A national Community Dance Festival

Tanzmehr Bühne together*and*other festival is now Tanzmehr anderes festival commun with a new logo! It is a platform for participatory, artistic dance projects from all over Switzerland. We exclusively present Artistic Community Dance (ACD) projects, which is quite unique in Switzerland. The performers on stage are life experts who are as diverse as possible in terms of age, physical or mental health and social background. The festival also facilitates encounters between groups from all parts of the country. They develop their pieces in co-creative processes with professional dancers who want to re-invent dance and challenge its hierarchies.

The festival takes place every two years, for the first time in 2021 and again 2023 at Kulturmarkt Zurich. The third edition takes place from 22-25 January 2026 at Theater Pavillon in Lucerne.

Accessibility: Theater Pavillion has a wheelchair-accessible elevator and toilet. Texts are projected in German/French/English during the play or distributed in printed translation. On Friday evening, the introduction and moderation will be translated into sign language.

Our 2026 Programming Group and Ambassadors

We are delighted to welcome Seraina Gläser, Melanie Glover, Sophia Rodriguez, Alessandro Schiatarella, Françoise Strassburg and Gifti Tekako to the Programme Group. They have different perspectives on dance and will work with the Festival team to select the groups for the 2026 Festival. As ambassadors for the festival, they will also help us spread the word about the call for submissions in their communities. They are all self-advocates with a disability/chronic illness or negative experience of racism.

Artistic Community Dance is an independent manifestation of dance which questions normative understandings of the body and dance. It is equally valuable for society and for dance as an art form, because ACD projects give more and different people access to dance, either as participants or as spectators. The aim of Tanzmehr Bühne is to make ACD practices more visible and to strengthen them in terms of cultural policy. The festival promotes public discourse about the work with non-professional dancers as well as the networking of all those involved. In order to strengthen ACD between the festivals, we have created Tanzmehr Branches . In 2022, for example, we created the "Manifesto for Artistic Community Dance in Switzerland". In 2024 we offered a Workshop and a Conference for exchange and networking.
