16 very different groups from all over Switzerland shared their joy of dance and skills with the audience. There was a primary school class from the Jura, feminist Greek ex-pats from Zurich,
young people from Schaffhausen, Bern, Fribourg and Ticino and an 85-year-old man who was on stage for the first time in his life.
In addition to contemporary dance, we presented break dance, flamenco, dance theatre, performance, dance improvisation and movement theatre.
The pieces were selected from almost 40 applications by a committee consisting of four audience representatives, the festival direction and four dance experts from different regions, age groups
and backgrounds. A total of around 150 dancers took to the stage at Kulturmarkt Zürich. In addition, 20 choreographers/directors and four live musicians were involved in the performances.
The free events organised as part of the participatory weekend took place at Helferei and Tanzhaus Zürich. They were attended by over 100 dance enthusiasts and professional dancers:
Sat & Sun : Six practice sharing sessions with choreographers from the festival
